Managing Diabetes Together: Support for the District of Timiskaming
Blanche River Health’s Diabetes Education Program provides support and resources for a healthier tomorrow.
On November 14, World Diabetes Day calls for global awareness and local action in managing diabetes. For residents in the district of Timiskaming, Blanche River Health (BRH) offers support to individuals over the age of 18 living with pre-diabetes, Type 1 & Type 2 diabetes, prediabetes and gestational diabetes. Through our diabetes program, we provide resources, education, and support tailored to help individuals manage diabetes more effectively.
“Diabetes is a complex condition, but people don’t have to face it alone. Our community-focused program aims to empower patients with the tools and guidance they need,” says Carole Lebel, BRH Manager, Occupational Health & Infection Control, who oversees the diabetes program at BRH.
BRH services include one-on-one consultations (either in person or by telephone) and group education sessions with certified diabetes educators. The team works closely with individuals and their health care providers to help manage blood sugar, prevent complications, and improve quality of life. Whether newly diagnosed or managing diabetes for years, community members have access to personalized care plans that suit their needs.
Jorge VanSlyke, President and CEO of Blanche River Health, emphasizes, “Our goal is to make diabetes care accessible to everyone in our region. We believe that local, accessible healthcare can transform lives.”
BRH’s diabetes program is open to all residents 18 years of age and older. For more information or to schedule an appointment, please contact:
