Donation Honours Noel and Anita Guimond, Supports Blanche River Health Operating Rooms
Honouring a Legacy: Guimond Family Donation Supports Local Healthcare Excellence.
Blanche River Health Foundation (BRHF) is pleased to announce a heartfelt donation of $10,000 from Mike and Suzanne Guimond in honour of Noel and Anita Guimond. This generous contribution will directly support the operating room at Blanche River Health’s Kirkland Lake hospital site, enhancing surgical services for the surrounding communities.
Noel and Anita Guimond were beloved members of the Kirkland Lake community, known for their dedication and service. Noel was a pillar of community involvement, serving over 65 years on the Teck Centennial Library Board, coaching minor hockey, volunteering as a fire fighter and contributing to organizations like Club Richelieu, Club 50+, and the Police Services Board. Anita, was a steadfast supporter of Noel’s efforts and an unsung hero behind many of his contributions.
Reflecting on their decision to give, Mike and Suzanne shared, “Dad was deeply involved in the community, and Mom worked tirelessly behind the scenes. We wanted to honour their legacy by giving back in a way that benefits everyone. Supporting our hospital is a positive way to help make life better for all.”
The Guimonds were inspired by recent stories about hospital donors like Sharon Eady and by a donation and conversation with Dr. Nathan Ek, a friend and neighbor, who highlighted the needs of the operating room. Their donation underscores the essential role community support plays in sustaining quality healthcare.
“Community donations like this are vital to our hospitals,” said Barbara Effenberger, Vice President and CFO of Blanche River Health (BRH). “They allow us to invest in equipment and facilities that directly impact patient care.”
Cassandra James, Executive Coordinator of the Blanche River Health Foundation, added, “This donation is a testament to the enduring legacy of Noel and Anita, who dedicated their lives to this community. We’re grateful for the Guimond family’s generosity.”
Suzanne echoed these sentiments, saying, “We hope this inspires others to support our hospitals. It’s about giving back to the community that shaped us.”
The donation honours the Guimond legacy while supporting healthcare that benefits Englehart, Kirkland Lake, and beyond—ensuring these communities thrive for generations to come.
