Blanche River Health Foundation Receives Grant for Sara Flex Lift
Ontario Provincial Command Branches and Ladies' Auxiliary Charitable Foundation Enhances Patient Care at Englehart Hospital
The Blanche River Health Foundation (BRHF) is pleased to announce a $6,167.34 grant from Ontario Provincial Command Branches and Ladies' Auxiliary Charitable Foundation to purchase a Sara Flex Sit-to-Stand Lift for the Englehart Hospital site.
The Sara Flex is a vital movement aid that helps patients transition from a seated to a standing position with dignity and ease, requiring far less intervention than traditional ceiling lifts. This addition enhances the quality of care for patients and supports healthcare providers in their roles.
“This lift empowers patients by giving them the ability to stand independently, when possible, and provides staff with a safer, more efficient way to assist those who need extra support,” said Sherry Lheureux BRH Manager, Patient Care Services. “It’s a win for everyone involved.”
This funding follows a $6,500 grant earlier this year from the Ontario Provincial Command Branches and Ladies' Auxiliary Charitable Foundation, which provided the Kirkland Lake hospital site with a Pig-O-Stat pediatric X-ray device. Both initiatives highlight the critical role The Royal Canadian Legion plays in strengthening local healthcare.
“We are deeply grateful to the Ontario Provincial Command Branches and Ladies' Auxiliary Charitable Foundation for their continued generosity,” said Cassandra James, BRHF Executive Director. “Their commitment directly benefits the patients and families we serve in Englehart, Kirkland Lake, and surrounding communities.”
Ontario Provincial Command District K Commander and Ladies' Auxiliary Charitable Foundation Chair, Marianne Sowinski, emphasized the importance of supporting local healthcare: “Our foundation is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in our communities. By funding equipment like the Sara Flex and the Pig-O-Stat, we’re ensuring patients receive the best care possible close to home.”
This grant is another step toward making healthcare work better for everyone in the region.
