New Patient Transfer Chairs at Blanche River Health to Improve Patient Experience
Local generosity leads to gift at Englehart and Kirkland Lake sites
New transport chairs will make it easier for patients with mobility needs who need to come to the hospital, announced Martha Cope, Vice-President, Clinical Services and Chief Nursing Officer of Blanche River Health.
“Transport chairs are much more versatile than wheelchairs, which are typically custom-built to suit an individual’s needs,” said Cope. “They’re built to last, and can be used comfortably by patients with varying heights, sizes and needs.”
The purchase of five chairs at the Kirkland Lake site and three in Englehart was made possible with a generous donation by the Blanche River Health Foundation.
“There are multiple ways to invest in an improved patient experience for those who visit both the Englehart and Kirkland Lake sites of Blanche River Health,” said John Sullivan, Chair, Blanche River Health Foundation. “The new transport chairs are just the latest example of what is possible when people open their hearts to help make health care work better in the region.”
There are also many ways to support the Blanche River Health Foundation, including buying 50/50 tickets at www.blancheriverhealth5050.ca, calling the Foundation at (705) 567-5251 ext. 2156, donating online at www.blancheriverhealth.ca or leaving the Foundation a gift in your will.
