Englehart Site of Blanche River Health Emergency Department Closed Until Further Notice
Locals asked to go to Kirkland Lake or New Liskeard for Emergency Services
The Emergency Department (ED) at the Englehart site of Blanche River Health (BRH) is closed until further notice, announced Jorge VanSlyke, President and Chief Executive Officer, Blanche River Health.
The EDs at the Kirkland Lake site of Blanche River Health, and Temiskaming Hospital in New Liskeard remain open 24/7, with Obstetric services available in New Liskeard only. As always, people are encouraged to call 911 in an emergency, and they will be transported to the best available location for care. Registered Nurses at Health 811 are also available 24/7 by dialing 811.
“Despite the success we have had at keeping the ED open at both Blanche River Health sites by increasing use of contracted services, our region is not immune to the on-going shortage of clinicians that led to more than 150 Ontario ED closures last year,” said VanSlyke. “We will continue to work hard to ensure full coverage is sustained over the long term.”
Blanche River Health is a 74-bed hospital corporation with two sites serving the North Eastern Ontario communities of Englehart (26 beds) and Kirkland Lake (48 beds) as well as residents in surrounding areas.
