Blanche River Health (BRH) is set to enhance its Physiotherapy (PT) services at the Kirkland Lake site, thanks to the generous donation from the Rotary Club of Kirkland Lake to the Blanche River Health Foundation (BRHF). Their support, valued at $11,578, will be used to purchase a treadmill and a functional trainer.

The PT department in KL hospital site will soon be relocating to the third floor with a new gym and its own equipment. This will improve patient access for physical rehabilitation activities, allowing therapies to be held at an appropriate space and location instead of at patient’s bedside or unit.

The Rotary Club of Kirkland Lake is a member of Rotary International with over 35,000 clubs worldwide. Rotary members are highly motivated individuals from various backgrounds who come together to help improve our community through volunteerism and financial support to dozens of benefactors in the Kirkland Lake area. To name a few these include school programs and events, bursaries, minor sports associations and clubs, playgrounds for all schools, Rotary exchange students, the downtown photo display, Teck Centennial Library, CJKL Christmas Wish, Rotary Wheels for Learning, and Blanche River Health.   Funds are raised through community events like the annual Rotary $50,000 Fish Derby and Elimination Draw, Rotary Monster Mash, and other various fundraising events thanks to their major corporate donors, volunteers, and participants. The Blanche River Health Foundation raises funds for equipment and capital projects at the Englehart and Kirkland Lake sites. With limited government funding for these needs, the hospital relies on community donations to modernize facilities and equipment. As a registered charity governed by a volunteer board of directors, the Foundation depends on local generosity to support essential improvements, enhance patient care and support the hospital’s mission to make healthcare work for you.
