Mary Ann Mavrinac
Director
Mary Ann Mavrinac joined the Board of Directors of Blanche River Health Foundation in July 2024.
A leader in higher educational leadership and library science, Mary Ann holds a Doctor of Education from Fielding Graduate University, a Master of Library Science from the Western Ontario, and a B.A. and B.Ed from the University of Toronto. She has been self-employed as a consultant specializing in strategic space planning since 2022 and is the Dean Emeritus of the University of Rochester Libraries.
Mary Ann previously served as Vice-Provost and Dean at the University of Rochester Libraries from 2012 to 2022, after roles at the University of Toronto Mississauga and the University of Western Ontario. Her contributions to the field have been recognized with numerous honors, including the Ontario College and University Library Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
Born and raised in Kirkland Lake, Mary Ann has lived in Southern Ontario and Rochester, N.Y. since graduating from university. She is proud of her roots and wants to give back to her community. Alongside her husband, Peter van Schie, she has a home in Kenogami since 2022, yet retains a home in Rochester, N.Y. Together, they are proud to have contributed to the Children’s Department Refresh Project at the Teck Centennial Library.
Mary Ann has joined the foundation board to support the success of Blanche River Health because she believes healthcare and hospitals are critical to the health and well-being of communities.
