Diagnostic Imaging

Diagnostic imaging is the use of non-invasive technology to look inside and produce images of a certain area of the body. Doctors use these images to help diagnose and treat disease.

At Blanche River Health, we offer several types of diagnostic imaging across our hospital sites.  Services provided at each site include x-ray, ultrasound, echocardiography, carotid doppler, peripheral venous studies and bone mineral densitometry. Our Kirkland Lake site offers mammography, peripheral arterial studies and computed tomography (CT) services.

Medical imaging requisitions for the Kirkland Lake Site can be faxed to (705)-568-2149.

Medical imaging requisitions for the Englehart Site can be faxed to (705)-544-5217.

Pharmacy and Therapeutic Services

Pharmacy

Both of our facilities have on-site pharmacy services for our patients. This team supports medication management for patients, and as part of our interdisciplinary health care team, supports the distribution of medications.

Therapeutic Services

Our sites offer a range of therapeutic programs, including:

  • Respiratory therapy, referring to the assessment and treatment of patients with acute and/or chronic dysfunction in the cardiopulmonary system.
  • Physiotherapy, referring to work intended to break down barriers to physical function.
  •  Occupational therapy, assisting individuals in developing and/or maintaining quality of life through the ability to complete activities at home and in the community where this ability has been challenged by accident, disability, developmental difficulties, or other considerations.
  • Our Kirkland Lake site operates a cardiac rehabilitation program as a satellite site of Health Sciences North. These services assist patients in recovery following a cardiac event, including education, stress management and graduated exercise training.
