Blanche River Health is a 69-bed hospital corporation located in beautiful Northeastern Ontario with two sites serving the communities of Englehart and Kirkland Lake and surrounding areas.

You will meet friendly, down-to-earth residents who enjoy partaking in the countless nature-filled activities that Northeastern Ontario has to offer. You can take in the hypnotic Northern Lights, hike the famed Mount Cheminis, unwind at one of the gorgeous provincial parks, or enjoy hours of snowmobiling, snowshoeing, skiing, hunting, fishing, or blueberry picking.

The culinary and cultural offerings of the Province of Quebec are a short drive away, and the airports in Timmins, Ontario, and Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec, offer daily flights to get you to Toronto or Montreal in approximately an hour.

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice as a Family Physician in Ontario and in good standing with the CPSO
  • Demonstrated ability to provide professional, caring approach with patients, public, department staff, fellow physicians, staff from other departments and other institutes and agencies.

Compensation

Varies depending on roles and FFS billing

Blanche River, a river in the Saint Lawrence River drainage basin in the beautiful Timiskaming District in northeastern Ontario, Canada, is a tributary of Lake Timiskaming and the namesake for Blanche River Health (BRH).

BRH is a 69-bed hospital corporation with two sites serving the North Eastern Ontario communities of Englehart and Kirkland Lake as well as residents in surrounding areas.

Kirkland Lake Site

  • Population: 8,000
  • Patient Beds: 48 (Acute, ALC, ICU)
  • On-site 24-hour emergency department

Blanche River Health works closely with the local Family Health Team teams, the Kirkland District Family Health Team (KDFT) and the Englehart and District Family Health Team (EDFT). 

The Family Health Teams are a group of Integrated Health Care Professionals who work collaboratively to help keep you and your family healthy by coordinating the best possible care for your health needs. 

Patients of the Family Health Teams have access to a variety of services. Both teams provide Primary Care on a multitude of levels, such as:

  • Chronic Disease Management
  • Respiratory Therapy
  • Mental Health
  • Pharmacy
  • Dietary/Nutritional Counselling
  • Smoking Cessation
  • Blood Lab Services

The Physician Recruitment & Retention Committee (PRRC) was created to help attract doctors to the Kirkland Lake and Englehart area.

Municipal, business and community representatives, together with physicians, the Kirkland and District Family Health Team, Blanche River Health and the Blanche River Health Foundation, work together as a team to attract physicians to our area. 

The Committee is responsible for planning, supporting, implementing and monitoring the recruitment and retention strategies to attract physicians to Kirkland Lake, Englehart and the surrounding communities.

Kirkland Lake

Kirkland Lake (KL) is a town in the northern portion of the Timiskaming District in Northeastern Ontario. The population of Kirkland Lake is approximately 8,000 residents (and growing!), with a catchment area of approximately 15,000 residents.

Kirkland Lake sits on the Mile of Gold! An old mining town, prospectors founded the town in 1919. Today, the area has multiple mines but is also a hub for outdoor activity.

Come work in Kirkland Lake and take a day to go fishing, rent an ATV, go hunting, camping, hiking, swimming or simply take in the fresh air and beautiful lakes and scenery of the Canadian Shield. Visit Kirkland Lake & District Tourism to learn more about the great activities in our area.

Englehart

Englehart is a town in the central portion of the Timiskaming District in Northeastern Ontario. The population of Englehart is approximately 1,500, with a surrounding catchment of approximately 2,500.  Kap-Kip-Iwan Provincial Park is located just off highway 11, 2 kilometers south of Englehart.  The park offers many trails for walking and bird watching as well as beautiful waterfalls.

Nearby attractions include Mount Cheminis, 500 metres above sea level on the border of Ontario and Quebec; Devil’s Rock, located in nearby Temiskaming Shores and a popular hiking destination with wonderful panoramic views of Lake Temiskaming; Esker Lakes Provincial Park, a family oriented park north of Kirkland Lake offering camping, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, hiking and swimming.

Kirkland Lake Multicultural Group (KLMG)
