Funding to Renew Infrastructure at Blanche River Health Doubles
Patients at Englehart and Kirkland Lake hospital sites to benefit
Blanche River Health has received $990,644 from the Ontario government to complete critical upgrades and repairs to create a safer, more comfortable space for patients and their families, announced Jorge VanSlyke, President and CEO, Blanche River Health (BRH).
The funding, which is part of the government’s $208 million Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund (HIRF), is more than double the $437,203 allocated to BRH in fiscal 2022-2023.
“Blanche River Health is grateful for the increased funding, which we will invest wisely in infrastructure renewal at both our Englehart and Kirkland Lake hospital sites,” said VanSlyke. “It’s important for hospitals to upgrade infrastructure, and this funding injection will help enable us to do that.”
According to the Government of Ontario, the HIRF will support critical upgrades and repairs at 131 hospitals and 58 community health care facilities across the province. Hospitals invest HIRF funding in projects such as windows, security systems, fire alarms and back-up generators.
Blanche River Health is a 74-bed hospital corporation with two sites serving the North Eastern Ontario communities of Englehart (26 beds) and Kirkland Lake (48 beds) as well as residents in surrounding areas.
